Total Lunar Eclipse in Taurus

Welcome to the November newsletter, and here are some highlights of manifestations of planetary patterns for October: I post these as it is insightful and educational for us to see how astrology is constantly manifesting in the world in many different ways, weaving a tapestry with its constantly changing symbolism over time. Ultimately I hope this will serve as a historical record.

October Review

October 8th: Right on the Full Moon in Aries=primal fire, there is a massive explosion on the bridge linking Crimea to Russia: see link. Also exactly on the day of the Full Moon there is a huge fire in a mall in Pakistan: see link. Again this reflects the primal fire nature of this Full Moon, but also interestingly both geographies are in the Eclipse path of the Solar Eclipse on October 25th, and we are already well within the energy of that.

October 9th: One of the biggest solar blasts ever recorded: https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2022/nasa-s-swift-fermi-missions-detect-exceptional-cosmic-blast. The geomagnetics of the Earth (Uranus in Taurus) are exceptionally unstable right now, all aiding our evolution, as these eruptions bring in new information for us to assimilate.

October 11th: PayPal had issued a statement that they would take a penalty payment of $2,500 from the account of anyone who spread ‘misinformation’ on social media. However there was such a backlash with many cancelling their accounts and PayPal’s share falling by 56% within two days that they had to retract their statement. However reading the small print it appears they are still stating they are prepared to do this: see link. Since when has PayPal held the moral compass for the world, it is supposed to simply offer a payment and transaction service? This gives a glimpse into how digital control may operate in future if we are not alert.

October 21st: At the beginning of October the British pound GBP fell to a 51 year low against the $, regained a little, then dropped again today as the latest Prime Minister resigned yesterday. We have seen much turbulence and rapid turnover in the UK government, all part of Pluto moving through the last few degrees of Capricorn, the collapse of the old order. This continues until December 2024 when Pluto finally leaves Capricorn, but I believe a lot of the collapse will happen before March 2023 when Pluto starts to enter Aquarius, which will start to shift the power (Pluto) back to the people.

Liz Truss held the shortest period for any UK Prime Minister at only 44 days. She has no birthtime so our information is very limited from her chart, but she was born on July 26th 1975 in Oxford. At the time of her resignation, transiting Uranus was conjunct her Mars (sudden reversal of goals), Saturn was beginning to station square to her Mars (blocking her goals, obstacles to moving forwards), and the Total Lunar Eclipse on November 8th at 16° Taurus (so we are already within that energy) is conjunct her Mars too. This is completion or closure for her ambition, Eclipses are usually permanent in their effects. Transiting Pluto is square to her Uranus, suggesting a permanent change of perspective, and the Solar Eclipse on October 25th at 2° Scorpio is square to her Sun at 2° Leo. So many major and permanent changes signalled here. Eclipses can operate like wild cards, a little like Uranus transits. 

October 24th: The Saturn-Uranus square can manifest as shortages of various kinds, as it is an on-off energy. Here we see diesel supplies are getting very low especially in the US. At the time of publishing this newsletter the supply will last for just a few more days now, which will have impact on many delivery systems and agricultural vehicles: see link.

November 2022

November is potentially a huge month of change. The Total Lunar Eclipse on the 8th is even more powerful than the Solar Eclipse on October 25th. Through this whole period focus on shedding the old, whether that is relationships, jobs, other circumstances that no longer serve you. It can also be about toxicity of all kinds, chemical and thought-based, and can even be ancestral or from past lives. We are diving deep here. You can then create the space for the new to enter your life. Also remember that Eclipses are not just for one day, but will be felt up to a month before and up to six months later. The fact that this is a North Node Eclipse, the Moon is closest to the North Node here not the South, suggests that when we can release the old in our lives there is a very significant new beginning waiting for us individually and collectively.

The Total Lunar Eclipse happens on November 8th at 3.01am PST and 11.01am UK time at 16°00’ Taurus. See where this falls in your chart as it represents a culmination, a closure, a completion, or sometimes shines a light on what you have not previously known, and this is very likely with three planets plus the South Node in Scorpio, the sign of secrets. 

The duration of totality is 1 hour and 25 minutes which is quite long, and the duration for the whole Eclipse including partial coverage is 5 hours 54 minutes. The Eclipse path is across NE Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America, and the Antarctic. By astrocartography, if the planets were to leave a shadow falling across the Earth, the Eclipse would be over Scandinavia and Central Europe, especially Italy and Switzerland, and the North West corner of South America. Pluto, planet of transformation, is angular across Mexico and Central US and Canada. Some of these geographies are likely to come into prominence over the Eclipse period.

We have 6 planets in Fixed signs at the Total Lunar Eclipse. Personally, if you have any planets in Fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius between 12°-20° you are likely to be feeling some intensity and restlessness, desire for newness and change, in the area of your life where 16° Taurus falls.

The planets in Fixed signs are the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Scorpio, Saturn in Aquarius, and Uranus and the Moon in Taurus. This Eclipsed Moon is sandwiched between the North Node at 13°24’ Taurus and Uranus at 16°56’ Taurus. Eclipses, especially total ones, tend to be wild cards, bringing in the unexpected. That is, even more, the case with the Moon being so tightly conjunct Uranus, planet of the unexpected. So you never quite know even as an astrologer how this will manifest as Uranus will always surprise us. It could be seismic activity, earthquakes or volcanoes, or political or financial earthquakes. These are especially likely as the Nodal Axis is across the financial axis of Taurus and Scorpio. It could bring shocking news and information to the fore, truth, and major awakening by many people. Uranus wants to move us to a higher state of being. Revelations and disclosures of many kinds are likely to occur this month, but the picture is complex as we will see. There may be further disruptions in various supply networks too, including food (Taurus-Aquarius). Events are likely to move very fast too as Uranus is linked to speed.

There is huge tension in the chart, and therefore intensity, due to the amount of Fixity, but also because the Fixed planets are forming a Fixed T-square. The Sun and Mercury are squaring Saturn in Aquarius and opposing the North Node, Moon and Uranus. So this Eclipse is also highlighting the long running Saturn-Uranus square which is still very tight here with Saturn at 18°48’ Aquarius and Uranus at 16°56’ Taurus. As I’ve spoken about many times, the main themes are the past vs the future, control vs freedom and centralisation vs decentralisation. Uranus wants to break the rules and carry us into the future in exciting ways, whereas Saturn wants to keep control and pull us back to the ‘way things have always been’, particularly related to rules and regulations ‘for our safety’. The tension has to break here, either via the tectonic plates or behaviourally – this can produce civil unrest at times, especially as truth comes to the fore.

It can also suggest much greater geomagnetic instability (Uranus in Taurus) as we have seen much greater numbers and strengths of coronal mass ejections, M-class and X-class flares, often more in a day than we had in the whole of 2018. You can track these on www.spaceweather.com. As above in the review section, on October 9th we had the biggest gamma ray ejection from the Sun that had ever been recorded. These stronger cosmic and galactic energies are bringing in new information from far galaxies that we are assimilating and this is all part of our evolution. The reason for that is that the Sun’s and Earth’s magnetic fields have dropped by over 20% recently, leaving us much more open to these evolutionary energies. So don’t worry if you are having symptoms such as aches and pains, tinnitus, dizziness, insomnia, extreme fatigue – many are and they are all evidence of our rapid upgrade. This energy is activated our pineal gland and heart field, and together with the photonic light pouring in as we move through the Photon Belt, our lightbody is continuing to expand. Our heart’s magnetic field is also expanding as the Earth’s magnetic field drops. Can you believe that our hearts know this and automatically compensate by producing a bigger magnetic field? Check out the work of the HeartMath Institute on this.

However, with Saturn in the T-square, this may suggest even greater attempts at control and censorship as truth comes to light. It will feel like a crescendo. Emotions of many people will be amped up – stay in peace and calm as far as you are able. With the Sun, Mercury and Venus (also currencies) in Scorpio this may manifest in relationships especially if Venus at 20°13’ Scorpio falls in your 5th or 7th houses, or aspects the rulers of those houses, as they are the relationship houses. Issues around jealousy, possessiveness, control, manipulation, may all come to the fore. 

Looking at Uranus tightly conjunct to the Moon in Taurus and the North Node, squared by Saturn (government, control) we may see stronger attempts at centralised government digital currencies. Remember that the Aquarian and Uranian energy wants to move us towards DECENTRALISATION, grassroots up, even the development of micro-currencies in local areas ultimately. The energy of Uranus always wants to surge forwards, but the square to Saturn is the reality check, no, not so fast . .  suggesting an attempted strong element of control. There may be more attempts at censorship too with Saturn square to Mercury, especially as Mercury is in Scorpio, the sign of secrets. 

Scorpio is linked to deep, dark secrets, those that may have been suppressed for a very long time. It is linked to anything that is underhand, underground, often financial or sexual crime, big money. There is a sense at this Total Lunar Eclipse that we need to go into the dark to come back to the light, and that anything that is revealed now is likely to be shocking with Mercury in Scorpio tightly quincunx to Uranus, planet of truth and clarity. It’s interesting that the Eclipse is conjunct the ruling planet of the Federal Reserve, the Moon. The chart for the Fed is set for 23rd December 1913 18.02 Washington DC.

The elephant in the room here is also the Midterm elections being held on that same day as the Eclipse. As this is a Total Eclipse I can’t imagine this going perfectly smoothly, and Eclipses tend to bring in permanent changes. The Eclipse falls across President Biden’s Midheaven ruler (Mercury) so this is likely to in some way affect his career, status and reputation in the world.

However, as mentioned above, censorship may be strong with Saturn square to Mercury and the quincunx between Mars and Pluto may bring in a ‘might makes right’ energy into the picture. Please note that Mars is particularly strong through this whole period. It moved retrograde on October 30th at 25°36’ Gemini and won’t move direct again until January 12th. When planets are retrograde they are closer to the Earth, so that means that the energy of Mars (assertiveness, even aggression) may be felt more strongly. Not only that, but Mars is ‘out of bounds’, beyond the normal 23° latitude north of south of the Ecliptic within which most planets orbit. This is from October 22nd to May 4th 2023. That can give Mars an out of control, extreme, or even genius quality. As it is in Gemini, this can give us major shifts in perception and thinking that can help us reframe information; with Mars in Gemini until March, we will have a lot of information coming in for us.

Retrograde Mars is likely to also have the effect of reviewing our actions (Mars) over the last few months when it was moving direct, and whether these still seem appropriate in the light of new information (Gemini).

However adding to the complexity of the picture around information, truth and secrets coming to light, Mars is in a long term square to Neptune in Pisces, and this becomes exact on November 19th at 22° Pisces-Gemini. Although wonderful for ‘spiritual action’, this can bring fog, silt and even deception into the information. So we need to drop into our hearts to find the truth about anything during this period, and this is very good practice for our mastery. Gemini is a Mutable Air sign and with Mars there it can be excellent for any kind of writing project or where a lot of mental energy is used, but if we are being buffeted by a lot of external events and information overload it can make us feel very mentally scattered, even exhausted. So remember to live from the inside out not the outside in. Set your frequency compass to joy, peace, love, gratitude, and dominate your reality with those emotions through your day, and unplug from any information that disrupts those high frequency emotions.

So we need to shift our focus inwards, to develop an internal anchor as we move through our days. I would strongly recommend turning off the news as that is likely to be very dramatic during this time but also very fear-based. Develop a daily practice of closing your eyes and dropping into your breath, or meditating, or candle-gazing, or listening to sacred music, or sitting in nature and losing a sense of time and space . . anything that can become a daily default so that you start to alter your state of being by small amounts every day to help you gain a sense of peace and calm. We need to operate from a stillpoint in our lives as often as we can, not from trigger-happy reactions and responses. Master stillness, however you achieve it. We are particularly being trained for the mastery of our minds with Mars in Gemini, reinforced from March 2023 onwards by Pluto in Aquarius.

Although both Saturn and Pluto are now both moving direct and ‘not looking back’ until they both change signs next March, the outer planets are barely moving in November. Pluto remains at 26° Capricorn all month, so if you have any planets between 25°-27° of the Cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, you are likely to be feeling intensity or power issues in some area of your life, or deep transformation. It is also the planet of empowerment. Neptune remains at 22° Pisces all month, so if you have any planets at 21°-24° of the Mutable signs, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces, this may work as a refining or spiritualising of your energy, but may manifest at times as lower physical energy or even confusion, depending on which planets are being aspected. Uranus, retrograde, only moves one degree from 17° to 16° all month, so if you have any planets around 15°-18° of the Fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, you are likely to be feeling restlessness, a strong desire for change and newness in the area of your life where 17° Taurus is falling for you. 

Saturn only moves from 18° to 19° Aquarius all month, and so is still tightly in the square to Uranus. So with planets around 18°-19°of the Fixed signs there may be another pull towards staying with the old ways, your responsibilities and commitments, although ultimately in these battles Uranus usually wins. This means that if you don’t introduce change consciously in your life where 17° Taurus is falling, it tends to come from the outside into your life, often less comfortably. Jupiter is also only moving a degree from 29° to 28° Pisces, turning direct on November 23rd. So if you have planets at these degrees in the Mutable signs (listed above) then Jupiter can help to bring in a sense of expansion, personal growth or even travel or study opportunities.

However with all of the outer planets drilling down on specific degrees and barely moving this month, there is a sense of intensity, emphasised by the Eclipses, that we are absolutely in the crucible of change. November for me is the biggest astrological month of the year. Really step back from your day to day life and see what represents old consciousness to you; let it dissolve. Focus only on what you want to create for your future, even if it is just in terms of emotions that you want to feel more of; love, joy, peace, compassion, gratitude and appreciation. Continually bring yourself back to these emotions throughout your day, and the more you do this the more you are adding ‘form’ to your future, and a greater likelihood of it manifesting rapidly for you. 

On the 20th we have a beautiful trine between the Sun at 28° Scorpio and Jupiter at 28° Pisces. This can give us a sense of optimism, hope and a bigger future vision. On the 23rd, just three days later with Jupiter barely moving here, it will station and move direct. This can enlarge or expand whatever is unfolding at this time, but certainly helps to focus on the future. This is particularly the case as Jupiter is the ruling planet of Sagittarius, and we have a New Moon in Sagittarius that day, at 1°37’, exact at 2.57pm PST and 10.57pm UK time. So this is the perfect time to set a new intention for whatever you want to manifest in your life, conditioned by the house area where 1° Sagittarius falls for you. Jupiter is also in an out-of-sign trine to the Sun and Moon, expanding anything ‘Jupiterarian’. 

Jupiter is very powerful here, not only because it is the ruler of this New Moon, and is also stationary direct that day, but in addition it is on the World Axis. The World Axis is 0° of the Cardinal signs but has an orb or 2°, so 28° of the Mutable signs to 2° of the Cardinal signs. Whatever is unfolding at this time is likely to be on the public stage globally in some way.

This is the closest that Neptune and Jupiter will get in their conjunction for another 13 years. At a lower level of expression it can bring in flooding (‘big water’), but let us hope that is not the case. It can further increase (Jupiter) the oil (Neptune) price and hence stimulate inflation, but by far the best expression is to focus on your spiritual life. This combination represents the mystic, and also a strong sense of charity, kindness and philanthropy. We may be feeling especially compassionate towards others at this time. 

We have seven planets in Mutable signs at this New Moon: the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus are in Sagittarius, Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces, and Mars in Gemini. I believe that our reality is much more malleable than we imagine, for our solidity is an illusion. We are almost entirely vibrating energy, if you flew through us with a camera taking photos there would be nothing on the film at the other end. Our reality and our future trajectory are constantly shifting, depending on our thoughts and emotions of today. Nothing is set, fixed or stable. This is very empowering, as we can change our reality much more easily than we might imagine. This New Moon may help us to understand that, as Sagittarius as a sign is linked to optimism, hope, wisdom, and reaching out in the cosmos to receive greater understanding. It is the sign of higher consciousness, and Jupiter, its ruler, in such a strong position at this New Moon, also represents those qualities. Jupiter is further strengthened here by being in an out of sign trine to the Sun and Moon. There is a sense of expansion and positivity coming through.

So particularly with this level of Mutability in the astrology, think of your birthchart as modelling clay not yet formed. It is up to your individual freewill as to what you create.

Sagittarius is the sign of Mutable Fire, and we have four planets there. Mars, linked with primal fire, is also strong as mentioned above. Think of how you can use this fire positively in your life. Your conviction, your passion, your joy for life, your enthusiasm, are all expressions of fire. Love is not weak or passive, love is a fire. Think of what we go through for our loved ones when times are tough. Love can conquer so much. Think of expressing love as part of being a spiritual warrior, where we stand our ground when we are creating a better world. Fire is an essential part to this motivation, and it is likely to lead us to an empowered state of being rather than being the victim. In fact depression can often be the result of a lack of fire.

Sagittarius and its ruler Jupiter are also associated with the future. So often we define ourselves by our past, even our failures. However try this experiment of focusing on the future you you want to create. Can you step into this new energetic hologram that you have just created with your thoughts right now? That is using our understanding of quantum reality for our empowerment. We are in fact recreating ourselves in every moment, however we tend to recreate ourselves from the past as that is our identity, rather than break the mould and have a step-change in who we are. The combination of Fire and Mutability can help us do this. Do this as a game, an experiment. Who you will be creating will be part of where your Higher Self would like to lead you to.

Mars at 21° Gemini is trine to Saturn at 19° Aquarius. This aspect is excellent for building new systems and networks (Aquarius) for the future (Aquarius) that are realistic and sustainable (Saturn), and that may well involve new social media platforms. This is because both Gemini and Aquarius are linked with those.

Uranus continues in a close conjunction to the North Node at 16° and 13° Taurus respectively, and it continues its on-going square to Saturn too. We will feel this Saturn-Uranus square for the rest of November, the clash between the old world and the new, the past versus the future, control versus freedom. Uranus being the further out planet, the planet of the future and the planet conjunct the North Node, our collective future destiny, will win this clash, but the crescendo of forces involved are clear during this month. Saturn may also try to bring in even more censorship into social media and freedom of speech (Uranus), as suggested by the UK Policing Bill which is potentially draconian, currently going through Parliament.

Freedom is emerging as a strong theme at this New Moon. Sagittarius is the sign of freedom and truth, and those qualities are linked to Uranus too, and here Uranus is in a tight quindecile aspect to the New Moon (Sun and Moon). The quindecile is an aspect of upheaval, upset and obsession around the planets and signs involved at either end of the quindecile; so be very alert to what is emerging in our world around freedom and truth. Sagittarius is also one of the signs (the other being Libra) linked to the law, so we may see some legal breakthroughs at this time around these issues. There is as much stronger sense of our view of our future at this time, but also our part in creating it, in a bigger way than we ever have before.

Sagittarius is a restless energy. It seeks adventure, new horizons, new explorations and possibilities, it wants to go beyond sameness and staleness. Uranus has a very similar message. Both are potentially connected to travel and for Uranus this is likely to involve aviation and even space travel or galactic connections. We are entering a time of remembering our galactic citizenry, and moving back to it, as the Earth starts to take its place as a powerful portal for the galaxy.

I am going to post the planetary positions each month. I will not include the Sun and Moon as they move too quickly, but will post the others so you can work out the transits to your natal chart: 

Mercury – 4° Scorpio – 20° Sagittarius
Venus – 11° Scorpio – 17° Sagittarius
