The Nature of Power

Today and tomorrow, May 25th and 26th, Mars squares Pluto exactly at 5°25′ Taurus/Aquarius. This can represent an assertion of power in the world, of ‘might makes right’ and may manifest as some powerful moves on the geopolitical stage.

Watch China in this over the next few days and any new assertive move, as transiting Pluto is exactly conjunct the Ascendant of China (chart set for October 1st 1949 15.15 Peking China) at 5° Aquarius. This is an aspect of empowerment for China, and Mars is squaring this Ascendant/Descendant axis.

This Mars-Pluto square is also aspecting the chart of Iran (set for February 1st 1979 09.33 Tehran), as Pluto is conjunction Iran’s Mercury in the 11th house of politics and strategy, and opposing its Jupiter, ruler of the 9th house of foreign relations. Mars is also conjunct Iran’s Chiron at 5° Taurus, so any sense of Iran’s vulnerability is activated now – but of course that can trigger action from Iran too.

Both with global events and any greater assertiveness emerging in your personal world, please stay on your Eagle’s perch. We can observe but not absorb. Keep turning inwards as your compass, dropping whenever you can into your breath and into stillness.

Whatever is unfolding in the greater world is increasingly making us aware of the kind of leadership we have had all of our lives, and how we feel this is working in people’s lives. This issue around leadership and what constitutes good, kind, loving, humanitarian leadership will come into greater focus in July.

Remember that we have to see how power is being used currently to make a different choice, that we can use it for the greater good of humanity. It is all part of the unfolding of our rapid evolution.
