Entering a Year of Change

Welcome to the January newsletter, and here are some highlights of manifestations of planetary patterns for December: I post these as it is insightful and educational for us to see how astrology is constantly manifesting in the world in many different ways, weaving a tapestry with its constantly changing symbolism over time. Ultimately I hope this will serve as a historical record.

December 2021 Review

5th December: From spaceweather.com: 

M-CLASS SOLAR FLARE: Earlier today (Dec. 5 @ 0719 UT) Earth-orbiting satellites detected an M1-class solar flare. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash. A pulse of radiation from the flare ionized the top of Earth’s atmosphere, causing a minor shortwave radio blackout over the Indian Ocean: blackout map. Aviators, mariners and ham radio operators might have noticed strange propagation effects at frequencies below ~20 MHz. This flare was even stronger than it seemed. The blast site was partially eclipsed by the edge of the sun, so only a fraction of the radiation made it to Earth. The instigating farside active region may be capable of X-class explosions. 

This was happening right on the Total Solar Eclipse, when extremes tend to occur. This and the flooding below are reflecting Uranus in Taurus, extreme Earth events, that are likely to continue until 2026. 

On another note, regarding water/flooding events, late in November San Diego CA roads were inundated by a massive pipeline burst, which closed down freeways for several days and affected the local water supply, with some neighbourhoods under a “boil water” notice.  Freeways in southern California are such vital connections between cities, since public transportation (compared to the rest of the world), is not very effective. Here’s a local news account:  see link. The Solar Eclipse by astrocartography was falling north-south down through this this area, covering the road collapse in NW US and down through California, exactly where the flooding hit.

6th December: With the upcoming final exact square between Saturn (restrictions, rules) and Uranus (freedom) on the 24th December and Venus retrograde conjunct Pluto in Capricorn exact on the 25th, in my recent video I said that I expected attempts by governments at more control over the Christmas period. Now in New York City the Mayor has announced that all private-sector workers have to be vaccinated by the 27th December to continue to work: see link. Lockdowns in Austria and Germany are extreme.

8th December: Just four days after the Total Solar Eclipse (and the effect lasts for 6 months) there have been 40 earthquakes in NW US in the last 24 hours. Several of these have been large, one of which is the biggest in this area since 26th January 1700.

Again, looking at the astrocartography of the Eclipse, it fell exactly North-South down western Canada and the US and conjunct the IC, the land, in that area. So exactly where this earthquakes are occurring. Remember also that at the Total Solar Eclipse that Uranus planet of earthquakes was tightly quincunx the Sun and Moon. Let us hope that there are no major casualties: see link.

13th December: Today NatWest was fined almost £265 million for money laundering offences. Remember that the Venus-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn is digging up the financial and sexual secrets of the rich and powerful, and large institutions such as banking. 16th December: Extreme weather continues in parts of the US, highly unusual: see link. Uranus is connected to extremes and in Taurus this is linked to ongoing extreme Earth events whether that is weather or earthquakes, volcanoes, etc.

!6th December: Closer economic ties are forming between Russian and China, both currently expansionist: see link. This reflects Uranus (digitisation) in Taurus (currencies).

27th December: Two dams burst in Brazil, with fatalities, with ten more dams at risk: see link. This is happening just as Jupiter enters Pisces=big unlimited water, and linked with flooding. 

27th December: The Ice Age Farmer discusses some of the food supply disruptions already happening right now: see link. These are likely to continue with Uranus (disruptions) in Taurus (food supplies) until 2026. 

30th December: Today Ghislaine Maxwell born 25th December 1961, 15.20 Maisons Laffitte France, has been found guilty on five separate counts linked to child trafficking. She has yet to be sentenced.

Ghislaine has had transiting Saturn on the Midheaven (getting what you deserve, what you have earned) since late November throughout the trial, and she also has Saturn natally in the 9th house and ruling the 9th house of legalities. Transiting Saturn is opposing her Leo Moon now, authorities quelling her natural joy (Leo) and also squaring her Sun. Transiting Pluto is conjunct Saturn in that house of legalities, signifying hard times for her.

However as she knows so much we will see what her sentence brings.

Prince Andrew was born on the 19th February 1960 at 15.38 London. His Midheaven (status and reputation) is at 24°45′ Aries, so since late 2019 this has been repeatedly squared by Pluto. Pluto aspecting the Midheaven goes one way or the other; it can empower the individual, or there can be a fall from power especially if there has been any lack of integrity.

With the guilty verdict from the Ghislaine Maxwell trial it is interesting to look at his chart again. Transiting Pluto is conjunct his Mars (with obvious connotations of libido as the male sexual principle), which is the ruler of his Midheaven, so again a very similar message all through next year. It is exact in February and March, June and July and then December and January 2023. Running parallel to that, transiting Pluto is also conjunct his natal Venus, representing intense extreme feelings around women, but also his status and reputation again as Venus is co-ruler of his 10th house of career. This is all through next year but exact from March-June, then January, February, July and August 2023.

Solar Arc Moon is conjunct Mars next year, exact in April, highlighting status/reputation/career matters.

In addition, the Solar Eclipse on the 30th April 2022 in his 10th house is opposing Neptune, planet of secrets, which rules his 8th house of sexual matters and secrets, and the 9th house of legalities. In April transiting Jupiter and Neptune enter this 9th house; with Jupiter being good fortune this may ease things a little, however it is also the planet of expansion and so can serve to expand the affairs of that house if they are problematic. 

Then on 16th May 2022 the Lunar Eclipse at 25°28′ Scorpio is conjunct his natal Moon at 25°33′ Scorpio – so within 15′ of exactitude. His Moon rules his 12th house that can suggest incarceration, although simply pulling back from public view would also fulfil the symbolism.

The Royal family are a ‘Capricorn’ institution, highly traditional, long-standing, and a top-down establishment authority. With Pluto transiting the last few degrees of this sign until 2025 as I have often said, it will unearth any lack of integrity or accountability with those in power or the public eye.

It will be interesting to see what unfolds, and how much of this will be on the world stage that we will see . . the battle between control (Saturn) and truth (Uranus) continues all next year. 

30th December: Today Mars is conjunct not only the Ascendant of the US but also the degree of the Total Solar Eclipse on 4th December. Mars is god of war in myth, and today with rising NATO tensions over the build up of Russian troops on Ukraine’s border, President Putin and Biden are due to speak: see link. 

31st December: Mars=primal fire, it is inflammatory, and conjunct the US Ascendant today is also associated with some terrible wildfires in Colorado, sadly with some fatalities and thousands evacuated: see link. 

January 2022

Although it may not be so evident for the first two months of the year, 2022 promises to be a dramatic, fast-moving, eventful and unstable year of great change. At times it will be chaotic, tumultuous, and at others it can be blissful. When it is hard to find your footing as the ground beneath you collapses, make your centre your anchor. YOU are your own rock. At times especially early in the year it may feel relentless with so many old structures tumbling, initially appearing to leave a vacuum of chaos while the New Earth is taking form from the grassroots up. An alternative society is already being born, with alternative (natural) health solutions, education, legal system, financial systems (note the plural there) and new social structures of many kinds. These will ultimately no longer come from top-down authority symbolised by Capricorn, the old order, but from people coming together in groups, assemblies and councils to start a different way of living. It is a shift from centralised power to decentralised. This is already beginning to happen all over the world.

Some of the big themes are that in the continuing Saturn-Uranus square through 2022 which does come back to being exact by degree, but not by degree and minute in October, for various reasons we move from Saturn (rules, regulations, government control) having the upper hand in 2021 to Uranus (revolution, freedom, earthquakes) having the upper hand in 2022; the Nodes moving from Gemini-Sagittarius to Taurus-Scorpio; and Jupiter which moves into Pisces on 29th December 2021 becoming exactly in conjunction with Neptune in April 2022. All of these will be discussed in detail as the months unfold. The long-term squares of Eris to Pluto and Pluto to Haumea continue, again describing protests of people on the streets, the collapse of the old, and the birth of the new – something very different. The square between Pluto and Haumea becomes more exact in 2022, as we reach a crescendo of energy and shift. Haumea is a creative, regenerative energy and an important symbol for New Earth, and will be felt more strongly this year, more so in the second half of the year.

As we begin January, we will still be feeling the effects of the exact Saturn-Uranus square on 24th December and the powerful Mars aspects on the 30th and 31st. To begin the detail of January, on the 1st the Sun is trine to Uranus which promises newness, a different world, right from the first day.  The New Moon at 12°20’ Capricorn on the 2nd January at 10.34am PST and 6.34pm UK time also has strong initiatory energy, with Mars tightly on the Great Attractor at 14° Sagittarius. Remember this is the massive galactic anomaly deep in our cosmos, like a gigantic vacuum cleaner that is regressing at 600 kms per second and sucking thousands of galaxies in its wake. There is not only deep mystery around this point, but also great power. When a planet aligns with it – and Mars here is energising that alignment – we are able to gain higher galactic knowledge, often precognition and stronger psychic abilities. 

Jupiter supports that increased hyperscentience with its recent move into Pisces where it will stay until 11th May, and everyone can benefit from this. It is also likely to bring more compassion and empathy into our world. I will discuss Jupiter in Pisces as we get closer to a very important conjunction with Neptune in April 2022, but this potential can help us all to become more hyperscentient, it is magical and mystical, a surge of spiritual upgrade if we are on that path. It can bring us into bliss.

This New Moon is at the midpoint of Pluto at 25° Capricorn and Ixion, lawless brother of Pluto, at 1° Capricorn. So the New Moon is a new beginning, but describing the tension between old-style control systems (Pluto in Capricorn) and ‘finding our bliss’, going beyond our old 3D reality. In myth Ixion was due to buy expensive wedding presents for his father-in-law but instead of doing that he decided to murder him, and therefore was guilty of crimes against humanity. King of the gods Zeus decided to give Ixion a second chance but Ixion blotted his copybook yet again by trying to rape Zeus’s wife – and was spun off into eternity as a result. So here he was committing crimes against the gods, or violating spiritual law. There is a parallel here today.

Venus at the New Moon is at 22° Capricorn and remains tightly conjunct to Pluto at 25°, and Venus is retrograde until the 29th January. She stays in Capricorn an unusually long time because of her retrograde motion, until 6th March, coming to exactly conjunct Pluto for the third time on 3rd March. This continues to highlight banking, big business, the economy – especially as this period runs right into the US Pluto return becoming exact on the 20th February and operational all through 2022 and 2023. Pluto is linked to debt, default and taxes. Many secrets and corruption will come to light during this time, financial and economic turbulence is likely anytime between now and February, but ultimately this is about the collapse of the old system and the birth of new financial system (again, note the plural). The Venus-Pluto conjunction is also linked to a sense of betrayal by those we trusted.

There is a strong feeling of pleasure-loving Venus being controlled by Pluto, and that can manifest in personal relationships or just a sense of normal pleasures are harder to find. However we can always find these ourselves in simple moments of joy – remember that joy is internally generated. A big part of this transformation that we are going through is to shift from our reference point always being external – whether that is authorities or simply circumstances – to our reference point being internal, we generate our reality.

What is very interesting about this Venus-Pluto conjunction is that it is so tightly on the Saturn-Pluto conjunction of 12th January 2020, the beginning of the draconian lockdown response to the virus. Venus is within 22’ minutes of exactitude of this Saturn-Pluto conjunction which was at 22°45’ Capricorn. So there is likely to be a significant revisiting of all of the last 22 months and how governments (Capricorn) have handled this. It may also suggest that there is more attempted constraint at this time, but the populous with a rising Uranian energy are likely to be less compliant.

Eris at 23°41’ Aries continues to be tightly square to Venus and Pluto in Capricorn, strongly suggesting that the fiesty street fighter who will not tolerate inequality and injustice will be very active not only in January but through much of 2022 to accelerate the collapse and bring about a fairer world. There is a greater sense of awakening here, not only as Eris is the female awakener but also according to astrologer Alan Clay she has the sense of us ‘having to stop being fooled, or stop fooling ourselves’. Much will be revealed in January.

Uranus at 10°55’ Taurus is trine to the Sun and Moon at the New Moon which also suggests a new financial (Taurus) structure, and new ideas for our future which use new technology, life-supporting ideally (!), more downloads and visions of our collective future, and even more galactic contact and understanding, especially with Mars conjunct the Great Attractor. 

Chiron at 8° Aries is square to this New Moon, suggesting that sickness and ill-health may be very apparent at this time, but so are healing solutions. Mercury at 0° Aquarius is in an out of sign conjunction to Pluto in late Capricorn, suggesting deep thinking and again secrets coming to light; Aquarius is the sign of truth. 

Jupiter at 0°53’ Pisces is almost exactly square the Nodal Axis at 1° Gemini-Sagittarius. This suggests that on some level – more likely to be spiritual as it is in Pisces – that we have a feeling of hope, optimism and expansion about our future whatever is happening in the 3D world.

On 4th January the Moon is square to Uranus then conjunct Saturn, again highlighting the clash between the old world and the new, the past and the future, control versus freedom. By the 9th the energy is even stronger when the Moon conjuncts Eris and squares Pluto. Things may get a little wilder then and particularly on the 10th when the symbolism of Eris is magnified at its station direct at 23°41’ Aries. There is a powerful sense of fighting against any injustice or inequality at this time, and the next day, the 11th, the Moon conjuncts Uranus adding to the revolutionary mood. By the 13th the Sun squares Eris, highlighting that energy once again. These promise to be lively days.

Mercury moves retrograde on the 14th January at 10°20’ Capricorn for the next three weeks, turning direct on the 4th February at 24°23’ Capricorn. 

Then on the 17th January we have a Full Moon at 27°50’ Cancer at 3.48am PST and 11.48pm UK time. This is the fourth Full Moon in a sequence of seven all at 27° of their sign. This one is highlighting Pluto in the US chart at 27° Capricorn (opposing it), which is experiencing its Pluto return exactly in February and through 2022 and 2023, and as the US Pluto is in the 2nd house of the US chart this could illuminate issues around the economy, banking, finance, government, the constitution, and POWER AND CONTROL. This is part of a big theme of our whole transformation on a spiritual level, where does the power lie? Externally as it has been for our lifetime so far for most people, or increasingly are we seeing that everything in our reality comes from our own sense of sovereignty and autonomy. If we feel like victims that’s how our reality will unfold, if we feel as if we create our reality that’s how it will unfold. The importance of this shift cannot be overstated.

At this Full Moon the Sun is conjunct Pluto at 26°29’ Capricorn and the Moon opposes it, so issues around power are very clearly part of the picture. However, the Moon is in its own sign of Cancer, which is sensitive, gentle, loving, caring, with a strong desire to nurture others. It can feel vulnerable or sense the vulnerability of others, and we are likely to be feeling very deeply at this Full Moon which always tends to bring emotions to a head, but Cancer is also one of the most sensitive water signs. As Cancer is the sign associated with motherhood this may bring up issues to do with children, and our increased need to protect and nurture them – those issues are becoming very clear in society now.

However the Sun and Moon are forming a Cardinal Grand Cross to the long-running square between Pluto and Eris at 23°41’ Aries, so highlighting this clash between heavy-handed government control and people fighting for freedom on the streets, and Haumea at 29° Libra. This Full Moon is happening exactly as Uranus slows to its station, so there is a great sense of the clear divide between old systems and structures (Capricorn) and the new (Uranus).

With any Full Moon there is a sense of a culmination, completion or closure, and even more so when there are strong aspects to Pluto as we have here. Changes with Pluto tend to be permanent and deep. With this ending a new beginning is being birthed, emphasised by the Grand Cross with Haumea.

This magnified energy of Uranus’s station at 10°49’ Taurus exact on the 18th  will overlap the station of Eris 8 days earlier. Uranus and Eris share the symbolism of awakening, as well as revolution, rebellion and truth. Sudden shocking events such as earthquakes, volcanoes and extreme Earth events may occur but also shocking news. It can express as strong electro-magnetic energy, coronal mass ejections and solar flares, or even cyber attacks and issues with aviation. The energy is high, sudden, unexpected and disruptive. 

Uranus is not only still in square to Saturn at 13°55’ Aquarius but also to Mercury at 8°31’ Aquarius, emphasising the shocks and surprises but also encouraging us to think radically, out of the box. This may involve new social structures and whether you want to play a part in those. On the 18th Uranus is trine to Quaoar at 6° Capricorn, encouraging us to create from a higher level of joy, to shift our frequency before we start to set our intentions to manifest. In addition Mars at 25°15’ is conjunct the Galactic Centre, helping us to access higher consciousness information.

I mentioned earlier in this newsletter that in 2021 Saturn had the upper hand in the square between these planets but from the station of Uranus on the 18th, my strong sense is that it will have the upper hand especially from May onwards. However we will have period during the last four days of January and the first four or February, when Saturn is exactly aspecting the World Axis. Attempts by governments at greater control will be stronger then. However, 2022 will be a much more revolutionary year than 2021, especially from May onwards. We could even see global revolution as an acceleration of the collapse of the old paradigm and the birth of the new. 

The 18th therefore is a powerful day not only because to the station of Uranus but also as that is the day that the Nodal Axis changes signs from Gemini-Sagittarius to Taurus-Scorpio and will stay in those signs for another 18 months. This will put more focus on our food supplies, our agriculture, our Earth, nature, and going back to the simple things in life. It also is linked to finance, banking and the economy. Scorpio rules debt, defaults and taxes too with the ruler being Pluto. During the 18 months that the South Node is in Scorpio we could even see the tax system collapsing (!). Many sexual and financial secrets are likely to continue to pour out, but there is a feeling of purging the corruption now. 

The other aspect of the South Node in Scorpio is that we could see a lot of secrets coming out about toxins and poisons (think of the sting in the Scorpion’s tail) that have been hidden from us.

Both Taurus and Scorpio are Fixed signs so this Nodal Axis is a lot about finding our resilience and strength which may surprise us. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, and in this higher frequency energy we are being called to operate from our hearts much more fully, and to shift from the head, the mind, as the North Node has moved out of Gemini. 

On the 20th January Mars is conjunct the Galactic Centre at 27° Sagittarius, allowing us access to those higher consciousness energies. By the 22nd the energy is a little more disgruntled with a Moon-Mars square at 28° Virgo-Sagittarius, we have a Mars-Saturn semi-square on the 23rd, and on the 24th the Moon opposes Eris and squares Pluto, again highlighting that ongoing struggle between autocratic control and individual human rights.

However on the 28th the conjunction of Mercury and Pluto at 26° Capricorn is likely to reveal some secrets of the rich and powerful which could upset the applecart. We are likely to be thinking deeply about issues of power, control and betrayal. Venus stations direct at 11° Capricorn on the 29th January, emerging as the morning star and again becoming visible, which strengthens her ability to gradually start to find more pleasure in life. On the 30th the Sun squares Uranus and the Moon squares Eris, highlighting more revolutionary energies that will not be quelled.

This sets us up for a powerful New Moon at 12°19’ Aquarius on the 31st at 9.45pm PST and 5.45am UK time on the 1st February. Aquarius is ruled by the maverick freedom-loving Uranus, so this rebellious energy continues. See where this falls in your chart and don’t forget to set a new intention for the new seed you want to plant in your life.

We have a stellium of planets in Capricorn, Mars, Venus, Mercury and Pluto, with Venus at 11° tightly trine to Uranus at 10°53’.  Mercury remains conjunct to Pluto at 25° and 27° Capricorn respectively with Mercury continuing to reveal secrets that others would prefer to remain hidden. 

Saturn at 15°30’ Aquarius is conjunct this New Moon, but it is separating, so less powerful here, and Uranus the ruler of Aquarius is square to the Sun and Moon. So there is a strong sense of the old world (Saturn) and the new (Uranus) but as this is an Aquarian New Moon, Uranus is again emerging more strongly in this long Saturn-Uranus stand off. Since Uranus went direct on the 18th you may start to feel a shift of power base from the top-down structures to the power of the people, and this continues to come in surges this year. Mars at 5°36’ Capricorn is applying to a trine to Uranus too, energising and activating that archetype of the awakener, the rebel, and the maverick. Always remember that Uranus has galactic links too, and part of its benefit is connecting us more clearly to our Higher Mind, our superconscious.

This strong initiatory Aquarius energy is likely to encourage us to link with like-minded others, to find our tribe, and to consider being part of a community in some way, whether that is in a living situation or even connecting on-line. Uranus is sextile to Jupiter here at 7°16’ Pisces and both are linked to the future and a bigger vision that benefits all. This can also bring in higher consciousness understandings. So Uranus is well aspected here by both Mars and Jupiter. Wild woman Black Moon Lilith who will never obey the rules is at 10°17’ Cancer in a tight quincunx to the Sun and Moon, suggesting fighting for the children in some way.

The strong Aquarian and Uranian energy may also suggest rapid attempts to move us all towards more digital identities . . .

We are entering a huge year of change in 2022 that will become more apparent from May onwards. We are moving past the contraction of the last two years from March/April onwards. Be very conscious of where you are putting your focus, whether it is on the drama of the collapse, or cultivating the tender shoots of New Earth and all that represents as a more loving world.

If you can stay in the higher frequencies of peace, love, joy, gratitude, appreciation and compassion my strong sense is that you will be largely bubble-wrapped from the extreme chaos. You will be very aware of it, but less dramatically impacted by it personally as everything in your reality is a frequency match. You have decided to take the high road. Remember that these rapid changes in frequency and consciousness are being forced by the surging photonic light coming onto the Earth, and the physics of light is unstoppable.

However, please remember that a computer- generated description with a list of characteristics is a very different experience to having a full consultation with a professional astrologer,

I am going to post the planetary positions each month. I will not include the Sun and Moon, as they move too quickly, but will post the others so you can work out the transits to your natal chart: 

Mercury – 29 – 25° Capricorn, moving retrograde at 10° Aquarius on the 14th
Venus – 23° – 11° retrograde in Capricorn, moving direct at 11° on the 29th

Mars – 13° Sagittarius – 5° Capricorn
 Jupiter – 0° – 7° Pisces 

Saturn – 11° – 15° Aquarius

Uranus retrograde – 10° Taurus all month, direct on the 18th

Neptune – 20° – 21° Pisces

Pluto – 25° – 26° Capricorn all month

North Node, always retrograde – 1° Gemini – 29° Taurus, entering Taurus on 18th

Chiron – 8° Aries 

Chariklo retrograde – 29° Capricorn
